Training is done barefoot. Showers are generally available, so feel free to bring a towel and soap. Remember to bring water. For security, you can keep your valuables (wallet, phone) with you inside the training area.

Who is Karatedo Doshinkan for?

Karatedo Doshinkan is for anyone who wants to try something new. You don’t need to be exceptionally fit or athletic to start, and it doesn't matter if you have any prior experience in sports or martial arts. All you need is a willingness to learn and an open mind. Since some sessions are reserved for advanced practitioners, we recommend checking the class descriptions in the schedule before attending

Classes: How to Get Started

Shihan 8 Dan Krzysztof Witkowski

Krzysztof has been practicing Karatedo Doshinkan for nearly 25 years. He began his journey in high school at the age of 17, gaining skills, knowledge, and experience through regular classes led by the leaders of the Warsaw Dojo. During his university years, he lived in Vienna for six months, training daily at the Honbu Dojo. Furthermore, as a participant in numerous international seminars, he had the opportunity to practice directly under Hanshi Nobuo Ichikawa and, subsequently, Hanshi Masako Fujimoto-Stock.

During training, Krzysztof often explores the practical applications of techniques through partner work and by seeking deeper interpretations of individual movements. He emphasizes building physical fitness, while in his personal practice, he sees Karatedo Doshinkan as a path for internal growth. For him, it is a way to cultivate patience and mindfulness, as well as to improve perceptiveness and mental focus.

Shihan 8 Dan Leszek Zdrodowski

Leszek’s adventure with Karatedo Doshinkan began as a teenager, from the moment he stepped into his first dojo. It was love at first sight. He has been incredibly fortunate to practice Karatedo under the guidance of Hanshi Isao Ichikawa, Hanshi Nobuo Ichikawa, and currently Hanshi Masako Fujimoto-Stock. During his classes, he strives to pass on everything he has seen and heard from the Hanshis in a friendly and approachable way.

In Leszek’s view, Karatedo is above all a practice. Mimicry, repetition, and ultimately understanding the meaning behind individual movements, sequences, and kata are the keys to drawing from the Karatedo tradition. During training, he seeks to maintain a balance between the solemnity that comes with practicing a martial art and the pure joy of personal growth—and most importantly, the experience of practicing among a group of friends.

Shihan 8 Dan Piotr Siadek

Piotr has been discovering Karatedo since 1977. His first teacher was Aleksander Trofimov, followed by Hanshi Isao Ichikawa and his brother Hanshi Nobuo, and currently Hanshi Masako. As a Shihan, he strives to pass his knowledge on to others, receiving the same in return from his students. Over the years, Piotr has practiced various martial arts and combat methods; these experiences have allowed him to realize the profound goodness and value inherent in Karatedo.

For Piotr, the school is a community—but one that deeply values individuality, allowing each person to define what it means to them. He admits that Karatedo represents something different to him today than it did in the past, and it may take on yet another meaning in the future. In his view, this evolution is at the heart of learning and practicing Karatedo. It can be a Path of Knowledge and Skill, a Path of Growing Awareness, or simply the Path of the Heart. Ultimately, it can make us and our lives better.

Shihan 9 Dan Krzysztof Witos

Krzysztof joined the Karatedo group at SGPiS (now SGH) in 1978. Thanks to his first teachers—Aleksander Trofimov and Zenon Słomski—he found his way to the Great Masters: Hanshi Isao Ichikawa and Hanshi Nobuo Ichikawa. These masters, along with his fellow practitioners and Hanshi Masako Fujimoto-Stock, who leads Karatedo Doshinkan today, remain for him a constant source of inspiration and a point of reference that extends far beyond the walls of the dojo.

The practice of Karatedo is one of those activities that can foster health, bring joy to life, develop mindfulness and imagination, and build trust. It does not limit one’s path or restrict any personal aspirations; instead, it can support their realization. In his view, most things depend on ourselves. Krzysztof considers himself an amateur on the mat. From experience, he knows that stumbles happen more often than we would like. He believes that the ability to fall safely and the will to get back up are exceptionally practical skills and traits to possess.

Wszystkie te elementy odnajduje w treningach Karatedo Doshinkan. Poprzez uważność i obserwację siebie odkrywa wciąż nowe możliwości rozwoju

Shihan 9 Dan Jurek Drozdowski

Jerzy began his martial arts journey in 1974, initially practicing judo at AZS Politechnika Warszawska before joining the karate group at SGPiS (now SGH) under the guidance of Aleksander Trofimov. In 1977, he attended a demonstration by Hanshi Isao Ichikawa—an experience that completely transformed his understanding of what karate truly is.

Since that moment, Karatedo Doshinkan has been a vital part of his life. The Grand Masters—Hanshi Isao Ichikawa, his brother Hanshi Nobuo Ichikawa, and currently Hanshi Masako Fujimoto-Stock—have passed down a wealth of knowledge and skill in martial arts, where personal growth remains an integral element. Jerzy applies the masters' teachings and shares them with fellow practitioners by following the path of "beginner's mind" (shoshin)—viewing others with the curiosity of a first encounter ("as if I were looking at you for the first time, knowing nothing about you"). For him, those he trains with are a discovery, an inspiration, a teacher, and a source of constant curiosity.

Shihan Jerzy does not judge people. He often says: "When entering the dojo, leave your world behind at the door—your ego and your worries. Here, in the now, we are all students of the way of Karatedo Doshinkan." He is particularly drawn to the aspect of movement—both in the dojo and in life—understood as the cultivation of balance: physical, emotional, and spiritual. He finds all these elements within Karatedo Doshinkan training. Through mindfulness and self-observation, he continues to discover new possibilities for growth.
